Photoshop Tutorial - Starlight Mint

This tutorial makes use of the Distort Tool in the PhotoShop's Filter menu options to create a striped starlight mint.
Here's how:
First define a pattern:
- Create a new document 20 x 20 with a white background.
- Select the rectangular marquis with “Fixed Size” selected
in the style options; width 10 px height 20 px.
- Click upper left corner of image. This will select the left half
of the image.
- Select the paint bucket tool
and
select red as your foreground color. Fill the selected area with red.
- Click Select > Deselect.
- Next click Edit > Define Pattern . A dialog box
will appear for you to name your pattern.
- 7. Select "Pattern" in the drop down Fill Menu
of the Options toolbar. Click the drop down arrow in the Pattern
Menu to reveal pattern choices. Your new pattern will appear
at the end.

Now make the Starlight mint:
-
Create
a new document 400 x 400, white background.
- Click the Create a New Layer icon
in the layers pallet and name it "stripes".
- Fill the new layer with your new pattern using the Paint Bucket tool
set to “Pattern” in the Options bar.
- Now select Filter> Distort> Polar Coordinates
selecting. Be sure "Rectangular to Polar" is selected.
- Now select Filter> Distort> Twirl. Adjust the
angle to -55°
- Select the Eliptical Marquee Tool
and go to the Options Bar. Change the style to "Normal".
- Make a new layer
and draw a circle with the elliptical marquee tool ,
holding the shift key to ensure the circle does not become an oval.
- It is important that the circle be centered. Use your arrow keys to
center the circle. (I find it useful to draw guides.)

- Select the stripes layer and take Select
> Inverse.
- Hit the Delete button.
- Click Select > Deselect.
Now apply layer styles (click this icon )
as shown;
